Let the Lessons Begin...

Well, we did it! Ammon and I started violin lessons! We found this lady in town that does it out of her home, so for a half hour once a week we are exercising our minds. We played together in Jr. High and when High School started we thought it wasn't cool to play the violin so we both stopped. Boy how the times have changed! 16 years later we are finally coming to our senses that music is an important thing to have in our lives!

Hooray! This is truly exciting! I hope you have found a new love! I have always wanted one of my family to take up that great Jewkes tradition. Ammon, your triple great grandfather, Samuel, was famous in eastern Utah in his day for his band, and several of his sons played violin, I think, along with other instruments. His son, Joseph H., my great grandfather, was the one who played the coronet in that band. Angie now has his instrument. You have always had a wonderful ear for pitch, so I have no doubt that you can do well if you really want to. I'm excited for this. I love you both, Mom

How awesome that you guys are going to be doing this together! How fun! I remember you talking about wanting to pick it up again some time. This is so cool. You know I'm gonna want to hear you guys perform! You'll have to keep us posted on how the lessons go.

Good for you guys! I love to hear the violin. That will be a great thing for the two of you to do together. I can't help but remember once when Uncle Jerry & Uncle Ellis attended Sacrament meeting with your Grandma and Grandpa Bryan. I think it was someone's confirmation. Anyway, there was a little girl or boy who played a violin solo and obviously had not taken lessons for very long. It was so terrible that the uncles got the giggles. The harder they tried to stop, the worse they giggled. Needless to say, it was one of their most embarrasing moments. The looks they were getting could have killed!!
Good luck - I'm sure you guys won't make anyone get the giggles!!
